Designer: Anna SuiInspiration: Originating from Detroit, Anna Sui remembers all the music flyers that she collected throughout the 70s and used the graphics of her posters to create textures and prints in a well thought out colour palette.Collection: Models are dressed in colourful wigs, walking in light dresses and in short jacket and skirt ensembles. Numerous coats are reinterpreted in multiple ways such as quilted, flared, in faux fur or in animal prints. From multiple flowers to stripes, as well as ribbed and golden effects, with touches of feathers to make this collection even more desirable.Note: Kaia Gerber accompanied by Bella Hadid who open and close the show.Interview with Anna Sui:I grew up in Detroit and it’s a city with a lot of music. There was Motown, there were all the bands coming through and there was like psychedelic bands and psychedelic art. When I was a kid there was an older guy that I knew that would go to see the psychedelic bands and he would always bring me a little flyer and that’s what got me interested in all that artwork. So I took all those things and put it into the fabrics and colour palette. So I love the oranges and pinks and the blues and the greens clashing together.I used a lot of high techniques, now with digital printing, now with computerised textiles like the faux furs. They were all computerised. We did a very very kind of like 60's pattern, but they computerised it and made it into faux fur. I resisted a lot of the technology in the beginning and now I’m embracing it, I’m learning how to really work with it.Music from the show (for use only in context of the show, under cover of the right to information).
