Carlin Group: The Layering: A pure designer concept or a new way to dress? Womenswear Trend - SS2017

Published
Dec 21, 2015

In the kingdom of designers the layering is king… A principle that in other words means the art  to put on top of another : skirts on dresses, a dress on a pants , a skirt on a pants, or again a dress on a sweater...

The last fashion-week clearly high-lightened these new ways of dressing that redefine the tailoring codes, such as DKNY who revisited the men’s jacket into a maxi dress, worn on top of another dress!

The big principles like upside-down are not outdone: Emilio Pucci proposed a fluid dress on top of a transparent sweater and Sarah Wauchob a tulle dress on top of a pants for a new sexy day-time style… In theory.

Because between the creativity of the catwalks and reality, can this trend survive from the daily hardships?

No doubt the answer to this question can be found in the very popular Garance Doré who gives a regular demonstration of this all, playing with brio on mini and maxi length mixes and showing us a more reasonable vision of this way of dressing.

We also like Hellessy suggestion, that plays the game of asymmetry and lightens the silhouette for an new monochrome total look.

A trend we can find back in the proposals of Carlin for summer 17, where the new associations and different lengths can be seen in layering for twisted AND wearable city looks!
