Loewe opens design studio in Paris

Published
Apr 3, 2014

The fashion house Loewe, which hired on J.W. Anderson as new creative director starting for spring/summer 2015, has opened a new design studio in Paris. The Spanish brand, owned by LVMH, will subsequently divide its creative team between Madrid and the French capital, in order to combine "the creative talent and flexibility offered by Paris with the DNA of Loewe and its Spanish studios,” says Madrid headquarters. In his new role, the recently-hired British creative director will share his time between Loewe’s Paris and Madrid studios.

The French capital has, to be sure, the advantage of close proximity to London, where JW Anderson’s own brand is still based, despite LVMH’s minority stake in it.

Loewe’s previous creative director, Stuart Vevers - poached by Coach in New York several months before the appointment of JW Anderson - was also British, but had moved to Madrid in order to manage collections.

Despite its Madrid DNA, Loewe takes part in the Paris fashion week, although it abstained from autumn/winter 2015?

Founded in 1846 and acquired in 1996 by the world’s number one in luxury, the fashion house emphasizes that it remains "the only Spanish luxury fashion company with headquarters and studios in Spain," and adds that intends to stay.
