British Fashion Council appoints Anya Hindmarch as new non-executive director

Nov 24, 2010

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that Anya Hindmarch has joined the BFC team as a non-executive director with immediate effect. The council was founded in 1983 and it aims to showcase British designers and develop London’s position as a major player in the international fashion arena.

Anya Hindmarch, set up her eponymous label at the age of 19 and now has 54 stores around the globe. The label is also stocked in the world’s leading department stores and boutiques including Corso Como in Milan, Dover Street Market in London, Colette in Paris, Net-a-Porter.com, Isetan in Japan and Saks and Scoop in the US. She takes over the role from Hilary Riva who announced that she was stepping down from the position earlier this month after five years at the BFC.

Anya Hindmarch, commented ‘I am looking forward to getting involved and being able to contribute to such an innovative and prestigious body at such an exciting time for British fashion’.

The British Fashion Council showcases the best of British designer collections to international press and buyers at a globally recognised event, London Fashion Week. As a result, London Fashion Week ranks alongside New York, Milan and Paris as one of the 'Big Four’.
