The recent editions of Who's Next and Première Classe, which wrapped up September 5 near Versailles, were deemed a success due to the quality of the exhibitors. But attendance numbers were down both domestically and internationally.

Who's Next September 2016 - WSN Développement

WSN Développement published visitor numbers as doors closed last week, recording a 7% drop as 38,258 attendees walked through trade show doors. There was a 8.2% decline in French footfall, while international visitor numbers fell 5.4%.

Organisers alluded to a busy schedule and late returns from vacation for the chilly French response to the trade show, while the current unstable environment also had an adverse impact on attendance.

However, WSN did not record a drop in all foreign markets, even if overall international numbers were down.

The trade shows witnessed a strong buyer presence from northern Europe, with Swedish and Danish numbers up 11% and 16.9%, respectively.

However, southern Europe disappointed with numbers down from Italy (-8.3 %) and Spain (-5.7%) and a steady turnout from Portugal and Greece.

The trade shows managed to attract more visitors from the Americas (7.6%) with an increase in attendes from the U.S. (13.3%). In a delicate global environment, the Middle East remained stable, while China lifted 8.1%, South Korea rose (1.2%) and Japan dipped 3%.
