Versus Versace reveals an urban, military inspired collection for autumn/winter 2016

Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of Versace's sister line, added a rebellious touch to the collection's urban vibe for autumn/winter 2016. Prints, pleats and military details are the stars of the season for Versus Versace.

While keeping the codes of the Versus line, this new collection brings a gritty, even rebellious edge to the label's autumn/winter looks, in a range of urban, sporty, sometimes boyish ensembles.

"I love people with a strong sense of mind. It's this toughness that we capture in the new Versus Versace collection -- the individual attitude of the new generation," explains Donatella Versace.

Outerwear pieces -- especially coats -- are popular in this season's collection, in both menswear and women's wear wardrobes, with trench coats, zip-up bomber jackets and double-breasted coats. Anthony Vaccarello's menswear pieces also include a fur-lined parka and a fur-collared jacket.

Prints galore

The Belgian designer went big on prints this season, splashing garments with motifs of almost all kinds. The collection's military vibe is channeled through camouflage prints, given a new twist with the brand's iconic lion head symbol. These can be seen on coats, skirts and shirts, in particular.

Military motifs aren't the only prints in the season's collection, though, with cashmere, leopard skin and checkerboard prints also in the mix.

A feminine, sensual side

The collection includes some much more feminine, more glamorous pieces that stand out from the rest of the line-up. A strappy, lingerie-style top, for example, lands bang on one of the season's major trends.

Other pieces include a long, black, semi-sheer dress with opaque pockets on the chest, as well as an asymmetrical black mini dress with long sleeves.

Colors are dark, on the whole, with plenty of black, brown and khaki, lifted here and there with a few touches of red and orange.
