Uniqlo expands in USA

Uniqlo announced that it will open its second largest American flagship in downtown Chicago. The opening is planned for fall, 2015 at 830 Michigan Avenue on a section of the shopping boulevard known as the Magnificent Mile.

The Japanese company Fast Retailing, present through Uniqlo in the US since 2007, now finds itself with 60,000 square foot space in the Windy City, according to local media. It will moreover be the chain’s first store in the American Midwest.

Uniqlo originally came to the US in 2005 with stores in three New Jersey shopping centers, before moving on to Manhattan in 2006 with its first flagship. Today, its has 17 American stores, mostly located on the east coast and around San Francisco. The Japanese group announced in January a plan to open five more stores opening in Philadelphia, Boston and California.
