The Webster names new CEO and first chief brand officer

Published
Apr 8, 2019

US-based luxury multibrand retailer The Webster has made two key appointments to strengthen its executive leadership team in New York, it said in a press release on Monday. Laurent Malecaze has been promoted to the position of CEO, while Stephane Jaspar, joining from Stella McCartney, will take up a newly created role as chief brand officer. Both will report to founder and creative director Laure Heriard-Dubreuil.

The company said that the new management team "reflects the strategic importance of the brands’ interaction with its customers and the company’s growth ambitions for the future," which include the addition of new product categories; retail openings and design collaborations.

Malecaze, a graduate of French business school HEC Paris, served most recently at The Webster as president. He joined the company in 2015 as chief operating officer after four years in a consulting role at Bain & Company.

Heriard-Dubreuil commented: “I’m thrilled to pursue The Webster’s adventure with Laurent, now in the role of CEO, and to have someone with Stephane’s experience and expertise now join The Webster family, making him an important addition to our management team as it enters a new phase with many exciting projects and exclusive collaborations coming up.”

Jaspar, who is arriving at The Webster after 16 years at Stella McCartney, ultimately holding the position of chief marketing officer at the British label, will be responsible for all communication and marketing initatives at The Webster. He will also oversee visual identity, sustainable development and consumer experience for the retailer's fashion and home products and for the LHD lifestyle line launched in 2017.

Founded in 2009 in Miami, the retailer now operates in Bal Harbour, Houston, Costa Mesa and New York, as well as online. It will open a seventh US location in Los Angeles in 2020.
