The RealReal opens Madison Avenue store

Published
May 9, 2019

The RealReal is boosting its New York presence with the opening of a new store at 870 Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side.

The RealReal

Carrying a curated mix of women's ready-to-wear, handbags, fine jewelry and watches, art and home pieces, the new location offers a cozy space to the area’s high-end residents in comparison to the company’s two-level, 8,000 square-foot NYC flagship in SoHo, its first-ever physical location.

An extension of The RealReal’s traditional online services, physical locations allow  the company to offer conveniences that can only occur in-store. Like its other brick-and-mortar locations, the Madison store will offer an on-site Luxury Consignment Office as well as access to complementary valuations from The RealReal's in-house authenticators. As an added boost, the new store will be the first New York location to offer a team that is focused on evaluating sneakers.

Other special services at the shop include consignment drop-offs, personal shopping appointments, product viewings for high-value pieces like Birkin bags, vintage Rolex watches and archival apparel, and access to stylists who work with both in-store and online inventory.

"We're growing our presence in New York to support the strong demand we've seen for both shopping and consigning since opening our SoHo store a year and a half ago," said Julie Wainwright, CEO of The RealReal. "This new format store bridges the gap between our Luxury Consignment Offices and our flagships stores, bringing together an expanded assortment of expert services and a curated selection of luxury goods."

With the opening of the Madison store, The RealReal now operates a total of three stores across Los Angeles and New York City, as well as a total of ten Luxury Consignment Offices located throughout the country and inside each of its stores.
