Texworld USA to focus on sustainability at upcoming winter 2019 show

Published

Texworld USA, one of the largest textile sourcing shows on the East Coast, will come to the Javits Convention Center in New York for its winter show, focusing on sustainability. The Texworld USA Winter 2019 trade show is set to run from January 21 through January 23.

A gathering of international suppliers of apparel fabric, trims and accessories, the January show will feature over 16 product categories, including knits, functional fabrics, cotton and denim.

Attendees from the retail and supply industry will have access to new information on textile and fabric trends, as well as a schedule of industry-related educational seminars sponsored by Lenzing Fibers. Talks are set to center on sustainability, with topics ranging from chemical-free dying processes to the effects of tariffs and China’s take on sustainable solutions.

“Our exhibitors, now more than ever, know the importance of speed to market as well having the ability to supply eco-friendly sourcing options to retain and obtain buyers," said Jennifer Bacon, the show's director of fashion and apparel, in a release. "Manufacturers are starting to see this as a requirement and not just an option due to increased global concerns about business practices."

Hosting representatives of the textile industry from around the world, the Texworld USA winter show will also feature its own Resource Row, a panel of experts trained "to give attendees tools for fabric recycling, ethical fashion education, fair trade and more," Bacon continued.

Further "Textile Talks" and "Explore the Floor" tours will cover innovations in technology, fabric and more within the textile world, while TexWorld's "Local Loft" section will highlight regional and domestic apparel factories, contractors, and services.

Apparel Sourcing USA Winter 2019, collocated with Texworld USA, is a long-term joint venture partnership between Messe Frankfurt and CCPIT-TEX (China Sub-Council of Textile Industry). This marks Texworld's latest event at the Javits Center, following its summer seminar, which also focused on sustainability along with future autumn/winter color and fabric trends, and fashion law.
