The first-ever "Condé Nast International Luxury Conference" promises to be a not-to-miss event. Designers, CEOs from the biggest fashion houses, and renowned manufacturers have been invited to Florence to the Palazzo Vecchio’s imposing Salone Cinquecento from April 22-23 to discuss the future of luxury as part of a conference organized by the US publishing group Condé Nast and Vogue’s international fashion editor, Suzy Menkes.

The biggest names in luxury are meeting in Florence on April 22-23

Having left The International New York Times (formerly The International Herald Tribune) last year after 25 years of loyal service at Condé Nast, the famous fashion journalist has been able to use her contacts in order to attract luxury’s crème de la crème—all previously invited to the International Herald Tribune Luxury Conference, a concept invented by Suzy Menkes in Paris in 2000.

Karl Lagerfeld, Jonathan Anderson, Antoine Arnault, Nicolas Bos (CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels) Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye (president of Chloé), Tory Burch, Roberto Cavalli, Frédéric Cumenal (CEO of Tiffany & Co), Axel Dumas (CEO of Hermès), Alber Elbaz (Artistic director of Lanvin), Leonardo Ferragamo, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Marc Newson, Michele Norsa (CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo), Laudomia Pucci, Ermanno Scervino, Jeremy Scott, Nadja Swarovski and Clare Waight Keller (Chloe’s creative director) are among the long list of participants.

The conference’s primary theme: to better understand current changes in luxury and how fashion houses can stand out in a new, hyper-competitive world.

"The first Condé Nast International Luxury Conference will focus on the future – a new world, in which technology competes with hard luxury–watches and jewelry, and leather goods," summarizes Suzy Menkes on the event’s website, which has also announced the participation of Jonathan Ive, senior vice president of design at Apple.
