Rodarte to present Fall 2019 collection in Los Angeles

Published

With New York Fashion week approaching in February, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte have decided to present their Fall 2019 collection in their home state of California.

The collection will show in Los Angeles, near the designer sisters' home city of Pasadena. This marks the label's first presentation on Rodarte's native West Coast.

“California is one of our most important influences and having our first show in Los Angeles is a dream we’ve long wished to make reality,” the Mulleaveys said in a statement to Vogue.

It seems that the label is leaving NYC just as soon as it arrived, having only just returned to New York Fashion Week's schedule in September after a stint showing in Paris. The brand first announced its intention to take its runway presentation to the French capital in January 2017.

In the same year Rodarte was joined by Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne and Altuzarra in a brand exodus from NYC, while Alexander Wang announced his departure from the traditional NYFW calendar in February of this year.

Rodarte's latest presentation in New York was of its Spring/Summer 2019 collection, a hyper-feminine, flower-adorned show that followed the label's famed dreamy aesthetic.

While Rodarte bids farewell (for now) to NYC, the label's presence is still felt on the East Coast through its ongoing exhibit in Washington, D.C.'s National Museum of Women in the Arts.
