Rimowa x Chaos collab unveiled as travel is back on the agenda

LVMH-owned luggage brand Rimowa has launched a collab with London-based accessories label Chaos. The company said the two labels are “united by their common appreciation for luxurious design and innovative solutions”. The limited-edition line of suitcases and travel accessories “meld Rimowa’s legacy of German engineering with Chaos’s daring attitude,” we’re told.

The launch comes with a campaign fronted by Lila Moss and Samer Rahma.

The products are debuting as more countries open their borders for business and leisure travellers, and while travel globally remains well below pre-pandemic levels, the recovery has begun in many territories.

The unisex collection is the result of a “year-long design phase” and “sees the glossy polycarbonate grooves of the Rimowa Essential splashed by Chaos’s individual style”.

The core Cabin suitcase features a bold graphic in the shape of paint dripping down the exterior, and the company said “the inventive design means that each piece in the collection is unique”.

It’s available in two colour options, with a vivid saffron yellow and white combo, and the more “discreet” and “urban-minded” cactus green and black. Each suitcase comes with a co-branded leather luggage tag embossed with a globe, in addition to three complimentary stickers.

The collection is completed with Italian-made accessories, including a luggage harness in satin nylon that “streamlines the experience of traveling with carry-on luggage by removing the need for an accompanying handbag or briefcase”. It can be secured to the suitcase with anti-slip straps and has a number of pockets and compartments that can hold items such as a water bottle or a laptop. The companies said the luggage harness “displays Chaos’s DNA with subtle design cues, such as the slogan straps and the loose pockets referencing the athleisure look of a bomber jacket”.

Meanwhile, the “collectible” leather luggage tags are emblazoned with city names, “each one sporting a different style that references the colours and cultures of that destination, as well as providing the coordinates of the local Rimowa store”. And three quirky leather and chenille luggage charms (a fried egg, a green apple, and a ‘chill pill’) – add “tongue-in-cheek humour, as do the variety of eye-catching slogan stickers”.

Chaos co-founders Charlotte Stockdale and Katie Lyall said the collab felt “like a natural partnership because high design, function, and quality stand at the forefront of both brands”.
