Reformation launches its first swimwear line

Published
Apr 13, 2017

On April 13, sustainable fashion brand Reformation launched its first line of swimwear that supports the same eco-friendly practices as its existing line of dresses, special occasion wear, denim, tops, bottoms, jumpers, tees, outerwear and accessories.

Reformation

The L.A.-based company was created in 2009 by Yael Aflalo, a sartorial innovator who made eco-friendly truly fashionable. To this day, each piece is produced by responsible manufacturing partners in the U.S. or abroad incorporating sustainable methods and materials, to include vintage garments, for which the brand is known for.

The nine-piece line of swimwear, released Thursday April 13, are made from 85 percent recycled materials. The collection includes one piece tankinis and separate tops and bottoms ranging from $78 to $178 and can be purchase on the company’s website or at one of its four stores in the States. The simple styles are available in solid colors or the choice of stripes or a gingham print, all of which boast a pastel or primary color palette. Remarkably, the Hacienda bikini top and the Mandalay bikini bottoms (both $78) are already on a waitlist.

But just because the brand is green doesn’t mean it’s not embracing the modern-day world. Reformation launched a tech-driven San Francisco store back in February, complete with  e-commerce touch screens and innovative changing room technology. It’s also known for its impressive collaborations including a party-wear collection with Net-a-Porter and a winter wear collection with Patagonia, and a buzz-worthy holiday campaign that included transgender model Andreja Pejic.
