Positioned in the fast-growing second-hand luxury sector, French website Re-SEE has announced a fundraising round from a pool of investors to accelerate its development. Founded in 2013 by Sabrina Marshall and Sofia Bernardin, who have worked for Vogue and Self-Service magazines in the past, the platform welcomes to its capital three experts in tech, fashion and entertainment: Shari Glazer, American entrepreneur and CEO of the company Kalos Lab (web3), Michael Dayan, former shareholder of the events-based sales site Showroomprivé and now an investor after having taken over and successfully relaunched Sonia Rykiel, as well as Darren Star, producer and director of the successful series Sex and the City and Emily in Paris.

The amount of the funding is close to 3 million euros, according to our information.

The company, which describes itself as "the reference for certified luxury vintage fashion", intends to boost its international deployment, expand its sourcing capabilities and acquire new technologies to manage its activities.

The site specializes in the most sought-after luxury items, such as Hermès handbags, runway pieces designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel or Phoebe Philo for Celine. "This round of funding marks a year of strong acceleration for the company, both in terms of prestigious collaborations, the rise of its organic sphere of influence, and also in terms of revenue growth, which has been steadily increasing by 120% each year," says the company, which claims to have been profitable since the beginning.

An average basket of 1,161 euros

Re-SEE hopes to reach a turnover of 25 million euros within two years. The current level of its sales is not revealed, but the platform specifies that the average basket of its customers reaches 1.161 euros, an amount "three to five times superior to that of the competition", she assures.

Beyond the funds raised, the site intends to benefit from the expertise of the three investors who have joined its capital, on the subjects of NFT and blockchain thanks to Shari Glazer, e-commerce and logistics with Michael Dayan, and the promotion of vintage to the general public, through the close link between entertainment and fashion that Darren Star cultivates.

A pop-up in New York for the holidays

This year, Re-SEE has been chosen by Alaïa to resell its archive pieces, and has also partnered with Celine, as well as launched a pop-up store during Paris Fashion Week. In December, it will set up a temporary boutique in the Carlyle Hotel in New York to boost its visibility in the United States, its largest market in terms of sales.

To boost its audience, a series of videos will soon be launched, featuring celebrities such as Catherine Deneuve, Vanessa Seward or Gaia Repossi selling pieces on the platform. The stars will open their closets to influencer Leandra Medine Cohen.

Prior to Re-SEE, the second hand sector has been raising funds one after the other. In France alone, in recent months, the start-up Faume has raised 7 million euros, the children's website Beebs has recorded a contribution of 6 million euros, while the resale site Imparfaite has raised 3 million euros.
