Pure expands sustainability focus with installation backed by UN campaign

Pure London is putting sustainability at the centre of its February 2019 show, and will include an installation dedicated to ethical and eco-conscious brands in collaboration with the Conscious Fashion Campaign, an initiative supported by the United Nations Office for Partnerships.

Fashion brands working to end poverty, protect the planet and raise awareness about issues such as sustainability will be highlighted in a dedicated installation within the Conscious section at the trade show’s upcoming event.

Additionally, representatives from the United Nations will present a series of seminars as part of the show’s content programme to discuss and address the key issues facing the fashion industry and the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The collaboration builds on the launch of Pure London’s Conscious section with Common Objective at its July event and the adoption of several sustainability pledges as part of the Power of One campaign in May.

Julie Driscoll, managing director at Pure London, commented: “Since launching Conscious and our Power of One campaign to promote change across fashion industry, Pure London has set out to champion brands who put sustainability at the forefront of their business and provides a platform for retailers to discover exciting new ethical brands to meet the growing consumer expectations.”

This February, Common Objective will host a guided tour to help buyers find their way to the fashion brands highlighted in the Conscious section and CFC installation. All brands working towards sustainability will be able to submit samples to be featured in the CFC installation, where their pieces will be given labels to educate the audience about the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
