Pucci unveils debut Lachlan Bailey-lensed campaign in Camille Miceli era

The house of Pucci has unveiled the debut campaign featuring the first collection by its new creative director Camille Miceli.

The Franco-Italian designer and It Gal displayed her first ideas in Capri in the first week of May, winning plaudits for her bold use of Pucci’s bravura prints; snappy accessories edit; and witty sense of staging. Revealed over several days on the storied Mediterranean island to a select gang of editors and influencers, the unveiling featured yoga classes, sunny beach afternoons, cliffside cocktail hours and dinner parties as the happy few toured the limestone and sandstone island, which has been a coveted resort since Ancient Roman times.

No surprise then that happening photographer Lachlan Bailey actually shot  the new campaign during the collection launch in Capri. The island has always been an heart of Pucci’s DNA. Though born in Florence, Pucci has always referenced sunny palatial resorts; sporty beauty and the Italianate concept of far niente.

Just like this new campaign, starring Italian super model Vittoria Ceretti, attired in dashing pieces from Camille Miceli’s debut collection, entitled La Grotta Azzurra.

Known for his cinematic style and flatteringly lush lighting, Australian-born Bailey captures Ceretti in Capri. Like at the presentation, whose most salient image was a gang of gals elongated on striped beach-chairs, the campaign features Ceretti lounging about on deckchairs in a dark psychedelic beach djellaba, accessorized by golden fish-shaped Diva earrings and necklace.

Seen next in a kaftan print top, trimmed with naïve fish, the model poses before the island’s most famous rock formations - the double-stack Faraglioni.

Attired in the collection’s first “drop,” Ceretti tours the island, living out the summery sense of indulgence that is the Dolce Vita. Skillfully styled by Emmanuelle Alt, the former editor-in-chief of French Vogue, Ceretti poses in front of street vendors enjoying a vanilla cone or iced lemon drink. Miceli’s choice of Marmo or Pesci prints extends to scuba-sandals and beach backgammon sets.

Dressed in a selection of coordinated or mix-and-matched, dresses, tops, trousers, curled up derby hats and, of course, knee-length Capri pants to best express the playful mood of effortless elegance.

Made in vibrant colors and pants, the collection also fits in with the brand’s new “see now, buy now” model – the first drop is already available in stores and online.
