Première Vision Paris attendance down 8.3%

After crossing the 60,000 visitor milestone in September 2017 thanks to a 7.5% increase in attendance, the Première Vision Paris trade show experienced an 8.3% drop in visitors in September 2018, falling to 55 497 visitors.

Similar to the number of visitors seen in September 2016, the organisers believe the drop was due to Yom Kippur, which caused the event to be held Wednesday to Friday, as well as due to a change in behaviour among brands.

As a result, Première Vision SA mentioned a push towards "tighter and more direct operational teams", as well as shorter visit times, while professionals adapt to market instabilities.

The show quoted, among other things, "a slowing consumption in Europe, uncertainties surrounding Brexit, a critical monetary situation in Turkey, and global growth weakened by US economic policy.”

This edition, the attendance was 72% international. Behind the 15,160 visitors was Italy (11% in total) and the United Kingdom (7%), followed by Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Portugal. The organisers also noted a strong presence of Swedish (602) and Danish (459) visitors. Asia, which represented 14% of total visitors, was represented by a strong Chinese (3101), Japanese (1610) and South Korean (1029) presence.

North America, for its part, registered a slight decrease with 2,269 visitors, 1918 of whom came from the United States. Closer to home, Turkey also experienced a fall of its presence "directly linked to its monetary and economic problems," said Première Vision. This did not prevent the country to, however, represent 5% of visitors with a total of 2,528 visitors for this edition.

The next edition of Première Vision Paris will be held from February 12 to the 14. Until then, Première Vision Istanbul will be held October 10 to the 12, as will the London edition of Denim Première Vision (September 5-6), the Paris rendez-vous for pre-collections Blossom Première Vision (December 12-13), followed by Première Vision New York (January 15-16).
