Milan promises a week rich in new offerings

Published
Sep 21, 2015

After New-York and London, it is Milan's turn to walk the runway. The fashion week dedicated to the 2016 spring/summer collections, scheduled for 23 to 28 September, promises to be an intense one, with three new names on the official calendar, returning labels, major events and several initiatives taking place at the same time.

The Roberto Cavalli show is highly anticipated following the departure of its founder. Here, the womenswear collection from the last season, in February - PixelFormula

In total, the week will feature 170 collections with 70 official runway shows, as well as 88 presentations, compared to 151 collections with 73 shows and 80 presentations in February.

Not to mention at least 26 events, including parties, store openings, exhibitions, to liven up the week. To kick things off, on Tuesday night, 22 September, the Istituto Marangoni has organised a major runway show to celebrate its 80th anniversary.

The show, presenting he womenswear collections of 16 of its best students from its 4 schools in Milan, London, Paris and Shanghai, will take place at The Mall, the new space hosting the shows this season.

The Camera della Moda has launched a survival guide for the Fashion Week! It was written by J.J. Martin, the founder of online magazine LaDoubleJ.com

In addition to heavyweights Gucci, Prada, Versace, Giorgio Armani, etc., journalists and buyers will discover the protagonists of the new generation of Made in Italy, which they have gotten familiar with over the past few seasons. The young designers now alternate with the major labels on an equal and harmonious level over the week.

Finally, the Camera della Moda has will not be holding collective runway shows this season, as more often than not the young designers were designated the worst times. Instead, it is now concentrating on the new "Fashion Hub Market" project, allowing 17 emerging Italian and foreign designers to present their collection in a dedicated space during the fashion week.
