Micam, Mipel, other Milanese trade shows postponed to March

It is still uncertain whether it will be possible to stage trade shows in January and February in Italy, since the country is still in the grip of the Covid-19 epidemic’s second wave. The organisers of the leading local fashion events have therefore taken pre-emptive action. Five Milan-based shows, among them Micam, one of the footwear industry's main events, have decided to push back their dates by one month, to March 20-24 2021.

Italy’s fashion shows have picked new dates in March - Micam Milano

The Micam, Mipel, Homi, Lineapelle and TheOneMilano shows will all be held together at the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition centre on the outskirts of Milan, a format they trialled for their last summer session, on September 20-23 2020, with their #strongertogether initiative.

In September, these shows had been the first events to be staged, alongside textile show Milano Unica, after the end of the first lockdown, which struck Europe hard. In their first post-lockdown physical edition they welcomed 16,000 visitors, 25% of whom came from outside Italy.

The decision to postpone was announced as the Milan Fashion Week confirmed its next dates, from February 28 to March 1, and leading menswear show Pitti Uomo postponed its January session to February 21-23, just ahead of the Milan Fashion Week. Exceptionally for this session, Pitti Uomo will be staged simultaneously with its companion Florentine trade events, Pitti Filati and Pitti Bimbo.

The Micam Milano show is now scheduled from Sunday March 21 to Tuesday March 23, and will therefore last three days instead of the habitual four. Mipel, the leather goods and accessories show, and TheOne Milano, dedicated to ready-to-wear, will also be held on the same dates. Homi Fashion & Jewels Exhibition, which focuses on jewellery and fashion accessories, will be staged on March 20-22, while Lineapelle, dedicated to leather and exotic hides, will close the Milanese session on March 23-24.
