Maya Lakis launches luxury women’s shoes collection

Maya Lakis is joining the big league. The Beirut-based designer will take advantage of the next Paris Fashion Week, scheduled from September 23 to October 1, to launch her first footwear collection. The Maya Lakis label was created last July, and has already won over the Maria Luisa store in Doha, Qatar, which will distribute the label’s luxury footwear line from December 2019.

The collection, for the Spring/Summer 2020, consists of seven models, designed with evening and cocktail dresses in mind and called ‘Kim’, ‘Fay’, ‘Donna’, ‘Reve’, ‘Coco’, ‘Harper’ and ‘Diana’. It is available in seven different colours, from black to yellow, lilac and beige, and is priced between €500 and €950. Maya Lakis fans keen on the new collection will need to have a head for heights, as the shoes come in 8 cm or 11 cm heels only. Models with 4 cm heels will soon be added to the range, which will introduce new items on a seasonal basis, plus occasional capsule collections.

The shoes are made by specialised ateliers in Italy, where the label’s offices are located. Lakis hopes to attract international department stores and prestigious multi-brand retailers in the future, and reckons that US customers in particular could be keen on her designs. Lakis is also planning to launch an e-tail site in order to make her collections available worldwide.
