Mango's new UK flagship will bring Mediterranean to Oxford Street

Published
Mar 17, 2021

Spanish fashion retail giant Mango is moving its London flagship store to a new Location on Oxford Street. The company said the new store will have a “Mediterranean spirit" and will be the chain’s 36th UK location.

Mango

It will be the first store in Britain to feature Mango's new store concept, which includes different elements that evoke Mediterranean culture and style. The interior will feature warm tones with neutral colour bases and plenty of traditional, handmade, sustainable and natural materials.

It will open its doors in the third quarter of the year, which should be good timing given that many sector watchers are predicting a full-blown retail recovery by then. It should also be helped by the current £150 million that Westminster City Council is spending on the street to help attract visitors back there post-pandemic.

The store will see Mango moving from its existing neighbouring site to the new location that it says is a better spot.

Its aim is to create a functional, relaxed and welcoming space, that will cover 1,400 sq m over three floors. The flagship will carry the Woman, Man and Kids lines.

As well as the Mediterranean theme of the shop, it will have a strong eco-element with sustainable thinking behind its lighting and air-conditioning systems and sustainable materials being used, such as natural paints.

As part of the retailer's aim for the shop to enable staff and customers to engage with each other more closely, it will have a space where customers will be able to be served and advised. In this area, consumers will be able to offer feedback to staff and deal with any problems they may have.

There will also be a click and collect area in order to maximise the company's omnichannel approach.
