Mango present award to South Korean designer

Published
May 6, 2009

And the winner is… Jin Youn Lee. The young designer originally from South Korea is the winner of the second edition of the Mango Fashion Awards. He’ll therefore walk away with the €300,000 prize which will allow him to advance an already promising start to his career.

Jin Youn Lee

Chaired by Oscar de la Renta who was surrounded by personalities from the world of fashion like nina Garcia, the director of Marie Claire in the USA, Armand Hadida, director of the Parisian boutique ‘L’Eclaireur’, Jerry Hall, celebrity model from the 80s, the winners of the first edition of the awards Sandrina Fasoli and Michaël Marsen, and of course Isak Andic, president of Mango, and Damián Sánchez, associate director of the Spanish brand. This jury of the second international fashion competition created by Mango decided to award the prize to Jin Youn Lee.

The South Korean designer, along with nine other finalists from the USA, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic and Beligum respectively, had four months to create a special collection of ten items to be judged.
