Macy's to launch Samsung experience at Herald Square

Macy’s is launching on Wednesday a Samsung experience at its Herald Square location. Beginning on November 1, the main floor of Macy’s flagship location will offer customers Samsung products and innovative technologies in a 1,000-square-foot curated space. Products such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, VR technologies, home audio and smart home categories, QLED televisions and the Family Hub refrigerator will be available to explore and purchase.

Customers will also have the opportunity to explore the next innovation television wall, featuring The Frame, which transforms from a 4K UHD TV to a gallery-like art display, and take a ride on a 4D virtual roller coaster with the Oculus-powered Gear VR.
 
“At Macy’s, we are focused on providing what matters most to our customers – an even more engaging shopping experience and the best, most innovative products,” said Macy’s EVP of Business Development Marc Mastronardi.

“With the new Samsung experience at Macy’s Herald Square, we are creating an innovative and beautiful, one-of-a-kind digital playground in a flagship department store, featuring numerous installations and touch points for customer engagement.”
 
The new partnership between Macy’s and Samsung comes over one year after the retailer opened an Apple Store at its Herald Square location. Macy’s became the first retailer to house an Apple retail location at one of its stores. Prior to launching this experience, Samsung partnered with lifestyle brand and retailer Reign to open a content-driven boutique in New York City's Meatpacking District.
 
In addition, Macy's partnership with Samsung may be part of its plan to boost sales for the holiday season. The retailer reported a decline in same store sales in August, and CEO Jeff Gennette explained that the current retail competition gives customers “more shopping options than ever.” The introduction of the Samsung experience at Macy’s Herald Square could make the retailer’s flagship a one-stop shop for all of customers’ needs.
