London Fashion Week returns this Friday, 16 September

Published
Sep 12, 2016

The latest edition of London Fashion Week is about to start and as usual, it will showcase the best of British fashion as well as international fashion names.

The Designer Showrooms at Brewer Street Car Park will be open during LFW from 16th – 20th September and include accessories, bags, footwear, jewellery, multi-label showrooms and ready-to-wear. 150 designers will show here this season, and the BFC underlines that "the strong diversity in backgrounds and homes of this season’s line-up illustrates more than ever that London is truly open for business on the global market," perhaps a jab at those who expected the UK market to become more insular after Brexit.

The ready-to-wear shows will be on during the same period, and include the first runway to retail-collection from Burberry, to be held at 7.30pm on Monday the 19th. The Saturday show schedule will end with the Versus Versace show at 9pm as the Italian brand returns to LFW. MM6 Maison Martin Margiela is also showing at London Fashion Week this season after previously showing in New York, on Sunday the 18th.

On the Monday, Stephen Jones OBE and Stephen Webster MBE will present the new line up of the BFC’s Headonism and Rock Vault initiatives.

Many will also be looking forward to the Fashion East show, which will showcase collections from A.V Robertson, Mimi Wade and Richard Malon, as well as newcomer Matty Bovan, on Saturday the 17th of September.

This season, the 2016 winner of the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, Sophia Webster, has been announced as the official designer of the London Fashion Weekend tote bag. Fans of British fashion will also be able to follow the LFW's very own Instagram account, @londonfashionweek, to get instant access to fashion news and events.

It may be more important than ever to stay on top of things this season, as many brands - including Topshop and Burberry - will make pieces from their collections available straight after the shows. Internationally, labels including Prada, Diane von Furstenberg and Monique Lhuillier have made similar moves even if on a smaller scale, selling a select few items. Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg and Tommy Hilfiger are also offering pieces straight from the catwalk. A number of fashion insiders are undoubtably waiting to see what impact this "see now, buy now" trend will have on London Fashion Week this autumn.
