Liberty's Coonan becomes MD of retail

Published
Sep 21, 2022

Upscale department store retailer Liberty has promoted buying director Sarah Coonan to the role of MD of retail, a post she takes up immediately.

She’d been in her buying director role since summer 2018 but has been with the company for 12 years in total, before her new post having been in charge of buying for beauty, home and Little Liberty.

She has further experience in the luxury department stores sector too with an earlier role seeing her as an assistant buyer at harrods.

Her new job hasn’t been officially announced but she said on LinkedIn: “So excited and proud to take on a new role in a business I love. Last week I was promoted.”

Her elevation comes after the retailer recently named a new head of beauty buying with the appointment of Rhea Cartwright.

The company has been extremely busy this year, launching a number of high-profile collabs (such as with Puma in the spring), debuting a beauty newspaper as part of its marketing efforts for this key category, and launching tech to get products onto its webstore faster.
