LVMH is more than ever focused on the Chinese market. The world’s luxury goods number one, whose first store in Beijing was opened in 1992, has announced it will take part for the first time in the China International Import Expo, the leading Chinese trade fair for imported products and services, scheduled on November 5-10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

LVMH’s participation at CIIE was made official during the visit in France of the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, as Sun Chenghai, the general manager of CIIE, met at the Parisian headquarters of LVMH with Antoine Arnault, head of communications and image at LVMH, the CEO of Berluti and Loro Piana, and LVMH board member.

CIIE is designed to “support and facilitate the entry of foreign businesses on the [Chinese] market, enabling them to develop financial and commercial partnerships in the country,” wrote LVMH in a press release. In 2018, the event's first edition welcomed 1 million visitors, including 400,000 purchasing professionals who came to view the range of products and services offered by 222 groups from 172 countries, regions and international organisations.

At CIIE's second edition next November, LVMH will exhibit with a 350-square-metre stand in the area which, for the first time, will be reserved exclusively for luxury goods. In the stand’s “several showcase-like sections,” LVMH will present “an exceptional selection of products by its most iconic labels.”

The LVMH group’s labels currently operate more than 650 stores in China, with a staff of over 15,000 people.
