LVMH’s Métiers d’Excellence goes on tour in Lyon and Florence for the first time

The second edition of LVMH's 'You & ME' Métiers d'Excellence tour began in Paris on February 15. This annual tour aims to raise awareness among middle and high school students as well as people undergoing retraining, about the luxury group’s skilled professions in the design, fine craftsmanship and customer experience fields. The tour shines the spotlight on 280 professions, and this year it is looking for candidates to fill 3,500 positions at various LVMH labels in France, three times the number of the previous edition.

“We are pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this new edition. On February 15 in Paris, 2,100 people attended the event, twice as many as last year. Many visitors were much better prepared too, they brought their CVs with them,” said an enthusiastic Alexandre Boquel, head of LVMH's Métiers d'Excellence.

The jobs fair featured a jobs dating space - one of the novelties of the tour’s new edition - enabling candidates to quickly search for job opportunities within the group that are aligned with their professional goals and to apply directly on site, or via the ‘You & ME la prépa’ online platform.

“Métiers d’Excellence professions relate to three fields of activity, design, craftsmanship and customer experience, that are to be found in stores, hotels and restaurants. It’s the sector that is most under pressure, especially after Covid, and has 2,700 vacancies,” said Boquel.

After hosting events in Paris and Reims, home of the group's champagne brands, You & ME stopped in Clichy-sous-Bois. The event scheduled on March 7 in Orléans, in the heart of France’s Cosmetics Valley, was cancelled due to the general strike in the country.

The tour’s next stop will be Lyon on March 29, with an event held at the Palais de la Bourse. It is the first time the tour will be stopping in the city, on the occasion of the presentation of a new training course in partnership with the Haute Ecole de Joaillerie (fine jewellery school) which will open at the beginning of the next academic year in Lyon.

As part of this new partnership, the academy will offer a qualification (CAP Arts et techniques) in fine and costume jewellery, enabling a dozen students to train in the trades of jeweller, gem-setter and polisher. During the two-year course, students will follow their work-study programme at Oteline and FG Manufacture, two fine jewellery workshops acquired by Christian Dior in the Lyon region.

“The creation of this training course is notably going hand in hand with the spectacular growth of our jewellery houses, like Christian Dior. [Lyon] is also the city where Tony Parker, sponsor of the LVMH Métiers d'Excellence, has established the Tony Parker Adequat Academy, an institute with which we have other connections,” said Boquel.

Finally, for the first time, You & ME will cross France’s borders and hold an event in Florence, Italy, on April 14-15, focusing especially on leather goods craftsmanship.
