LVMH names its most 'green' retail stores in 2017

Published
May 24, 2018

The LIFE (LVMH Initiatives For the Environment) program, which launched in 2012, was designed by LVMH Group to "raise the environmental performance of LVMH and its maisons...  by encouraging the practical innovations of each brand."

In promoting the in-store initiatives, a mini-trade show, 'Life In Stores' took place for the second time on May 17. And, at the most recent edition, eight LVMH stores were awarded a Life In Stores prize.

LVMH said the 'Envelope' prize (for building insulation) was awarded to the Céline store in Miami, located in the city's Design District, while the brand new Louis Vuitton store at Place Vendôme in Paris received the 'Building Service' prize (for water and energy consumption management).

Moreover, the Venice branch of duty-free department store DFS, which opened in 2016 inside the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, was awarded the 'Lighting Design' prize, for efficient light usage.

The awards, organised by deputy director general Antonio Belloni and environmental director Sylvie Bénard, created the opportunity to recall LVMH's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% from now until 2020.

"The design of our stores integrates the values of creativity, innovation and excellence held dear to the LVMH Group. And this is brought about by means of guaranteeing the environmental performance of all our maisons, whose number stands at 4,370 across the world. It's a vector of considerable progress in the pursuit of our objectives," said Belloni.

Bénard concluded by saying: "The grid created (for the Life In Stores awards) has enabled us to set up training for architects at our Environment Academy, an imperative in reaching our goal of reducing our environmental footprint."
