Kingpins spotlights Australian denim industry with latest digital show

Published
Jun 17, 2021

Denim trade show Kingpins has unveiled the program for its upcoming digital event, Kingpins24 Flash Australia, a two-day celebration of the antipodean nation’s denim industry and supply chain.

Kingpins24 Flash Australia runs June 23 to 24 - Instagram: @kingpins_show

Running June 23 to 24, each day of the event features two hours of livestreamed seminars, conversations and stories about the Australian denim sector, with a particular emphasis on digitalization and responsible practices.

The first day opens with a sustainability-focused presentation from the show’s lead sponsor, Tencel, before moving onto a panel discussion on “Digitalizing Denim,” which features Jorgen Sevild of Inqova, Richard Atkins of Global Management Services Ltd., and Jeanologia’s Jordi Juani. The discussion will be moderated by Henry Chow.

Other panel discussions include topics such as “Australia and Fashion Sustainability” and “Zero Chemicals Wash,” which is moderated by ZDHC’s Prasad Pant and will feature Denim Clothing Company’s Diogo Aguiar, Andrea Venier from Officina+39, and Mansoor Bilal from Pakistan-based Soorty.

Major sponsor Naveena Denim Ltd. opens the second day with a “Fashion meets Function” segment, followed by a presentation by Calik Denim about water-free dyeing technology Dyepro.

Other highlights include a talk from Kontoor Brands’ David Tring on “Lessons I learnt on a skateboard and the future archive” and a “Trend Talk” interview with Amy Leverton of Denim Dudes, conducted by Vivan Wang.

As well as digitalization and sustainability, the event considers the important influence of Asia on Australian denim businesses. With this in mind, the program also features an interview with Alibaba’s Jessica Rudd on the subject of “Building a digital business in China.”

Like many of its industry peers, Kingpins has been forced to adapt to the Covid-19-related restrictions that have been imposed around the world over the course of the last year. This isn’t, therefore, the trade show’s first fully online event, as it also hosted a three-day digital Kingpins24 show in April of this year.
