K11 Concepts has unveiled a new cultural retail destination, marking the first large-scale commercial complex opening in Wuhan since the outbreak of Covid-19.

Wuhan K11 Art Mall II, which will welcome a number of first-to-market stores, integrates local culture with sustainability, creativity and art. It encompasses an innovative design that merges a semi-indoor urban forest, 'Urban Farm', and ongoing art exhibition, with a diverse retail offering.

Located within the inner ring of the city, alongside Jiefang and Lijibei Road, it spans a gross floor area of 247,000 square meters, comprising 86,000 square meters of retail space and 56,000 square meters of Grade A K11 Atelier office space.

With its overall positioning of “High-end, Luxury, and Elegance,” Wuhan K11 Art Mall II welcomes more than 30 brands that are new to the city.

Among its cosmetics brands, 35 percent of the shops will make their debut in Central China including Marionnaud Paris, Nars and Armani Boutique. The new destination is also home to concept stores such as Atelier Cologne and Erno Laszlo, as well as premium food & beverage brands like Lonfood and Starbucks Reserve.

Next year, Wuhan K11 Art Mall I will introduce another wave of first-to-market stores, including Stella McCartney, N21 and Ermanno Scervino.

“The opening of K11 Art Mall II in Wuhan is another milestone in establishing cultural-retail destinations across the Greater China region,” said Adrian Cheng, CEO of New World Development and founder of K11 Group.

“It echoes our mission on orchestrating collective creativity and social innovation for the next generation. This new landmark truly captures the ethos of the K11 brand, by endorsing art and culture in both business success and retail innovation, while promoting social progression and wellbeing - something that modern consumers seek and appreciate.”

To celebrate the launch of Art Mall II, a one-of-a-kind “Hot Dog Bus” designed by Austrian artist Erwin Wurm will be on display for a limited period. The art installation transforms a vintage Volkswagen Microbus into an overstuffed, bright yellow food truck.

K11 Art Mall I is also scheduled to open in 2021 and will be adjacent to K11 Art Mall II, further enhancing K11’s presence in the city. Outside of Wuhan, K11 is also actively expanding its footprint in Greater China and expects to launch 38 projects across ten cities by FY2025.
