Canadian womenswear brand Judith & Charles has opened a new store in Halifax at 5421 Spring Garden.

The new 1400-square-foot space is the company’s first boutique in Atlantic Canada, since closing a shop in shop at Mills in Halifax, when the department store closed in 2015.

“We are eager to re-establish our brand in Halifax’s trendiest and busiest shopping district after 4 years and extend our network of stores from coast to coast. Through our online offering, Judith & Charles has maintained a close rapport with clients in Atlantic Canada and now we are investing in the growth of our relationship here”, said Charles Le Pierrès, President, in a news statement.

“The new store brings the brand to life in a new and exciting way, and our clients in Halifax will finally have the opportunity to truly experience the brand’s commitment to building upon elegant and immaculate service.”

The store, situated in a commercial complex, was designed to embody Judith & Charles’ upscale experience and the brand’s “less is more” aesthetic, channeled through its interior which features clean lines, matt marble floors, curated lighting and a neutral palette. Meanwhile, collections are presented in a gallery-like setting to highlight each new collection.

The space will also house works by Canadian artists, starting with the store’s first official exhibition featuring the work of Montreal-based artist, David Umemoto.

Designed by Judith Richardson and Charles Le Pierrès, Judith & Charles has been based in Montreal, Quebec since 1990. The company currently has 11 stores across Canada and is also sold through select retailers like Holt Renfrew and Simons.

Earlier this year, it opened a new flagship store in Montreal’s historic Golden Square Mile Neighbourhood.
