Italian fashion labels have given a new vote of confidence to Carlo Capasa. The spirited incumbent president of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), the Italian fashion chamber, has been re-elected for a fourth consecutive term as the association’s president and CEO.

On Wednesday, at the AGM of the Italian fashion industry's most influential representative body, Capasa, who succeeded Mario Boselli in June 2015, made an assessment of his five-year-long tenure, referencing extensively the current situation. “Our association has never before stood so united,” he was happy to report.

CNMI, founded in 1958 and bringing together Italy’s leading fashion labels, also elected its new executive committee for the 2020-22 term. The majority of the top Italian fashion industry names previously sitting on the committee have been confirmed, except for Tomaso Trussardi and Lavinia Biagiotti Cigna, who stood down. They have been replaced by the CEO of Fendi, Serge Brunschwig, and by Alfonso Dolce, CEO of Dolce & Gabbana. The Milanese label has in fact recently re-joined CNMI, which it exited in 1998. Jacopo Venturini, who succeeded Stefano Sassi at the helm of Valentino, has taken Sassi’s place on the committee.

Alongside Capasa, the 14 following committee members have been unanimously appointed: Patrizio Bertelli (Prada), Marco Bizzarri (Gucci), Serge Brunschwig (Fendi), Alfonso Dolce (Dolce & Gabbana), Jacopo Etro (Etro), Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo (Salvatore Ferragamo), Massimo Ferretti (Aeffe), Luigi Maramotti (Max Mara Fashion group), Angela Missoni (Missoni), Renzo Rosso (OTB), Remo Ruffini (Moncler), Carla Sozzani (Carla Sozzani Editore), Iacopo Venturini (Valentino) and Ermenegildo Zegna (Ermenegildo Zegna HoldItalia), together with honorary members Mario Boselli and Beppe Modenese.
