Interfilière's appeal unchanged despite move to Lyon

While attendance to the Mode City lingerie trade show slumped from 14,000 to 11,000 visitors after its relocation to Lyon, the Interfilière lingerie and swimwear supply chain show has held its ground. It was visited by nearly 10,000 industry professionals, 70% of them from outside France, compared to 10,500 in Paris in July 2015.

‘Mission accomplished’ then for show organiser Eurovet. The mobilisation of exhibitors and visitors allowed the organiser to make this ‘one-off’ edition simpler and easier.

The event was held from 9th to 11th July once more in the French city of Lyon, eight years after leaving it for Paris. Accommodation prices in the capital were in fact too expensive, due to the coincidence of the Euro 2016 football championships.

Interfilière's 280 exhibitors were visited by buyers coming chiefly from Europe, with large delegations from France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Romania and Albania. The ranking of visiting countries has remained similar to that of July 2015: China, Hong Kong and the USA held their positions, while Russia and Switzerland slotted into 9th and 10th place, beating the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Several international groups and brands were represented along the aisles, among them Aubade, Etam, Decathlon, C&A, Triumph, New Yorker, Clover, Primark, Calzedonia, Van de Velde, Oysho and El Corte Inglès. As well as H&M, Asos, John Lewis, New Look, Topshop, Next, Gap Inc. and Under Armour.

"The range on offer at the show confirmed that run-of-the-mill products are relegated to the back end of the purchasing options," stated Eurovet. "It is essential to be distinctive, offering customised, innovative, specific and technological products. Colours and imagination are a must."

Interfilière's next French edition is scheduled from 21st to 23rd January, back in Paris this time. Before then, there will be the New York edition on 22nd September and that of Shanghai on 12th-13th October.
