In The Style founder denies claim he stole the idea

Published

Digital womenswear retailer In The Style’s founder Adam Frisby has denied he stole the idea for the now-£100 million business.

In The Style

Frisby, who says he created In The Style in his bedroom in 2014 with £1,000 redundancy money, is being sued by a rival, reported The Telegraph.

The retailer, which uses celebrities and influencers to design and market its fashion lines, is being sued in the High Court by businessman Paul Clements, who claims the name and concept of In the Style was his idea.

Clements claims he told Frisby of his plan for the business and put up his own start-up money, and that Frisby "took advantage" of that to set up his own company.

But Frisby is vigorously defending the claim, which he describes as "fraudulent", insisting he “worked tirelessly in the creation, development, growth and success of the company...without any input or involvement of Mr Clements”.

Frisby said that in fact, he was inspired to start in 2013 by ‘Want That Trend’, an online business that sold womenswear, and discussed doing something similar with a friend who was subsequently involved with In The Style.
