Icon Outlet at The O2 has successful first year, Christmas sales soar

Published
Dec 17, 2019

Icon Outlet at The O2, the outlet mall in London suburb Greenwich, said it has enjoyed a “successful first year of trading and its strongest six-week performance yet”.

Icon Outlet

The mall opened in October last year and said that it has seen a 36% uplift in like-for-like sales during the last six weeks.

That’s perhaps no surprise as its opening last year saw it debuting with a raft of strong brands yet there were still spaces in its offer. But this year it has signed up another 17 brands. They include Nike, adidas, New Balance, Asics, Tommy Hilfiger, and Brooks Brothers, among others.

The 210,000 sq ft premium urban outlet developed by AEG and Crosstree Real Estate Partners, has been helped by the huge visitor traffic at the adjoining O2 entertainment venue that this year reached the milestone of 25 million event tickets sold. It’s the world’s most popular music, entertainment and leisure venue and offers a giant ‘captive audience’ for the mall too.

The further development of leisure facilities in the immediate vicinity is also helping to increase the daily visitor traffic to area.

Marion Dillon, Leasing Director, said:  “Since launching Icon Outlet last year, we have secured many leading brands which is testament to our appeal, and we have seen impressive growth as the destination has successfully integrated retail with music and leisure. [The] performance highlights the relevance of adding best-in-class retail to the world’s number one entertainment venue.”
