House of Fraser announces first three Chinese locations

Published
Mar 24, 2015

House of Fraser is expanding into China. The English chain, which was bought in 2014 by the Chinese conglomerate Sanpower, has announced openings in Nanjing, Xuzhou and Chongqing.

In Nanjing, Sanpower, which is involved in several sectors, will convert its 200,000 square-foot department store Nanjing East Department into a House of Fraser location in April 2016.

At the time of tha acquisition, a plan mentioned the opening of 50 locations in China in the medium term. "The apparel range will be different with even more international brands. Teams will begin discussion with partner brands in April," it said in London.

Last September, House of Fraser was acquired by Nanjing Xinjiekou Department Store Co., Ltd., the majority of which is owned by Sanpower.
