Hibbett Sports names Christine Skold interim CFO

Athleticwear and sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports, Inc. has announced the appointment of Christine Skold as its interim CFO, a role in which she will oversee the company’s financial operations as it searches for a permanent replacement for Scott Bowman, whose resignation was announced by Hibbett at the beginning of the month.

 
Skold most recently served as VP for investor relations and corporate communications at Tractor Supply Company, where she served in a range of accounting positions over a period of 15 years.
 
Prior to this, the graduate of Tennessee Technological University served as assistant controller at Moll Industries, having previously worked at Arthur Andersen, LLP for eight years. She is also an active CPA in the State of Tennessee.

“We welcome Christine's extensive retail experience and guidance as we begin our search for a permanent chief financial officer,” said Hibbett Sports CEO Jeff Rosenthal in a release. “Her knowledge and contributions will be a valuable addition to our senior leadership team as we continue to drive initiatives that are in the best interests of our customers and shareholders.”
 
On Friday, Hibbett also announced that it had promoted Bill Quinn, VP of digital commerce, and Ron Blahnik, VP and chief information officer, to senior vice president roles. Both Quinn and Blahnik joined the Birmingham, Alabama-based company in 2016.
 
Skold’s appointment and Quinn and Blahnik’s promotions are effective April 26, 2019.
 
Hibbett, which reported $1.0 billion in sales last year, is also on the look-out for a new CEO, following the announcement of Rosenthal’s retirement in March. The executive, who has served at the company for the last 21 years, will remain in his position until a suitable replacement can be found.
