Hermès reopens expanded San Francisco store

Parisian luxury brand Hermès has announced the reopening of its newly renovated and expanded store on San Francisco’s Grant Avenue.

Spread over two floors, the 9,530-square-foot store seeks to channel both the signature Hermès aesthetic and a touch of California living, mixing shades of copper, wood, terracotta and Havana that evoke the local climate and create a warm atmosphere. Mosaiced carpets depicting Greek friezes punctuate the space and echo the decoration of Hermès’ Parisian boutique on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

On the first floor, customers will find the brand’s men’s and women’s silk collections, fashion accessories, perfume and riding equipment, as well as a large space dedicated specifically to leatherware at the back of the space.

The centerpiece of the store is a ribbon-like sculptural staircase in solid oak, designed by Parisian interior architecture firm RDAI.

Ascending this, customers will find Hermès’ men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and footwear collections, as well as jewelry and watches. This first-floor space also features a made-to-measure service and a coffee bar.

To celebrate the reopening of the location, Hermès has issued exclusive new colorways for some of its products, including a Kelly bag, a scarf and Apple Watch bracelets, among others.

“We’re happy to be back at Grant Avenue, a historic street, and in the magnificent building that we’ve been in since 2003,” said Hermès USA CEO Robert Chavez in a release. “This large space has been expanded with an extra floor in order to show the collections of all 15 of our métiers and offer a complete and personal service to our clients.

The relaunch of Hermès’ San Francisco store follows recent openings in New York’s Meatpacking District and Waikiki, Honolulu, and seeks to reinforce the brand’s presence in the hip Californian city.
