Graduate Fashion Week launches Considered Design Hub with Farfetch

Published
May 20, 2019

In response to the increasing number of graduates focusing on sustainability, the next edition of Graduate Fashion Week will present leading UK and international students' work at a new Considered Design Hub launched in partnership with Farfetch.

Farfetch

The hub will provide a platform for students to present their principles and designs, as well as host three daily workshops and events, including talks with members of the Farfetch senior team and ethical fashion designers.

The initiative is part of the online fashion destination’s new ‘Positively Farfetch’ strategy, which has also recently seen the company launch a resale platform for designer handbags in an effort to help drive a circular fashion economy.

During Graduate Fashion Week, the new tagline will be also featured in a ‘Positively Farfetch’ branded stand, where students, graduates and inspiring designers will be able to meet the team about opportunities and get advice and guidance.

And one student will be presented with the brand-new Considered Design Award sponsored by Farfetch at the GFW Gala Award Show on the last day of the event, which is taking place on 2-5 June in London.

Thomas Berry, director of sustainability at Farfetch, said: “The future of fashion is more considered, more positive, and ultimately more sustainable. That’s why Farfetch are so pleased to be supporting the future leaders of the fashion community through the Considered Design Hub at Graduate Fashion Week. We are at the start of our own Positively Farfetch journey and I’m looking forward to meeting, and in some way helping, students who want to make fashion a force for good.”

Martyn Roberts, managing director of Graduate Fashion Foundation, added: “We are extremely delighted to have Farfetch join us to power and support the new Considered Design Hub with their new initiative Positively Farfetch. As a charity we are excited to host talks and workshops, helping to teach best practice to the new year of graduates entering the industry, as well as join the larger conversation of ethical and sustainable practices.”
