Former Levi Strauss and Gap heads join True Religion

A year after being taken over by Towerbrook, True Religion has seen founder Jeffrey Lubell bow out and teams reshuffled. Operations have also been changed around since then. Now, the brand seeks to beef up its board of directors with some big industry names.

John Anderson is the former CEO and chairman of Levi Strauss (2006-2011). He spent 32 years with the group where he notably pushed the brand's international development.

Marka Hansen in turn spent 27 years at Gap, serving as Gap North America President from 2007 to 2011 before being appointed president of True Religion North America. She also had a hand in growing the group’s premium brand name, 1969. Before that, she had served as president of Banana Republic (2003-2007).

John’s background as CEO of Levi Strauss will be a valuable asset in guiding our business strategy and global operations and Marka’s product expertise will help support the evolution of our iconic brand,” said David Conn, CEO of True Religion, in a statement. “John and Marka will serve as a resource for our management team and we are fortunate to benefit from their insight as we continue to position True Religion for the future."

True Religion has 148 stores in North America and about thirty in the rest of the world. The brand now boasts distribution in 50 countries.
