First visuals of Louis Vuitton’s collaboration with Nigo released

The world of fashion is excited about a new collaboration. Last December, Virgil Abloh revealed a joint project between Louis Vuitton and Japanese designer Nigo, a celebrity name in streetwear worldwide. Codenamed LV², the collaboration is due to drop in June, with a Fall 2020 pre-collection, and the first looks have now begun to appear on the web.

The collection is all about tailoring. Among other sources, it draws inspiration from the British Mod aesthetic, which has influenced on more than one occasion another fashion heavyweight, Hedi Slimane. It features tailored suits with three-button jackets in monochrome fabrics or large checks, and streetwear-style outfits combining checks with the LV monogram logo, in blue or brown denim.

Accessories-wise, the collection includes slim ties and Louis Vuitton handbags in a variety of sizes, as well as tasselled moccasins and hiking boots. In other words, the two designers have had no qualms in blending genres.

It is not yet known how the collection will be distributed. In 2017, the Louis Vuitton X Supreme capsule collection was sold via pop-up stores in Paris and New York which remained open for three days only, and not for one month as originally planned, with no official explanation given. Louis Vuitton was said to have been overwhelmed by black-market resale, sometimes occurring as soon as the merchandise left the stores. It seems safe to assume that the sale of the LV² collection next June will be managed differently.
