Intense heat and blazing sunshine on the first day. A mini tornado on the second. But eventually, a successful first edition for the OutDoor by ISPO trade show. At the end of the four-day event, held at the Messe Muenchen exhibition centre in Munich, the organisers reported an attendance of over 22,000 visitors.

The first OutDoor trade show attracted over 22,000 visitors - Outdoor by Ispo

According to the report by the team led by Klaus Dittrich, while Germany was the country with the highest number of visitors, two thirds of the total came from other countries. Among these, the contingents from Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, France and the Netherlands were the most numerous.

The visitors, of whom 85% were industry professionals, were able to browse the Spring/Summer 2020 range showcased by 1,018 exhibitors from the footwear, apparel and equipment sectors. The OutDoor show's first edition gave the opportunity to organiser ISPO to build on its vision of a modern trade event. Messe Muenchen’s 18 exhibition halls were home to the outdoor industry’s leading, long-established brands, but also offered visitors and exhibitors alike the chance to explore further.

Urban apparel was showcased in the Borderlands section - Outdoor by Ispo

For example, the section dedicated to eco-sustainability, or The Borderlands section, presenting lifestyle brands like And Wander, Topo Designs, Billabong, Griffin and Mons Royale. The Cross-Industry section showcased concepts and solutions by companies operating in others sectors, from logistics to automation and innovative technologies. OutDoor has covered new ground, and future editions will have to build on this.

Calendar-wise, ISPO Shanghai will kick off on July 5, ISPO’s next winter edition is scheduled in Munich on January 26-29 2020, and the second edition of OutDoor by ISPO will be held from June 28 to July 1 2020.
