Online portals "boom" for clothing, accessories and footwear brands, but also for traditional textile empires who recently joined the online network. This phenomenon is causing fashion to become one of the most demanded products on the Internet, second only to sales of books and surpassing the classic online purchase of flight tickets, according to the latest Nielsen report “ Global Trends in Online Shopping”.

Source : Nielson

The Nielsen study, conducted among a total of 27,000 Internet users across 55 countries explores the trends for consumers’ online purchases.

The influx of sites such as 'Privalia', 'BuyVIP' and 'Vente-Privée', among others, that offer luxury brands at lower prices, in addition to exclusive designers' shopping pages of Louis Vuitton and Hermès, and popular commercial brands such as Mango and Zara who launch online next September - are driving this trend towards more online fashion purchases.

The Nielsen report revealed that 36% of consumers-regardless of gender "are planning online purchases of clothing and accessories in the next six months, and those acquisitions are associated with the latest cosmetics and beauty products (22%).

10% OF THE BUDGET FOR SHOPPING

On a more practical level, 32% confessed that they will use the Internet to make their flight reservations, hotels (26%) or to buy electronics and mobile devices (27%). However, the internet’s ‘star’ is the purchase of books, which will capture 44% of online purchases over the next six months.

Finally, the report from Nielsen shows that more than one-quarter of Internet users (27%) spend between 6% and 10% of their monthly budget on online purchases, showing that, despite the power of "see and touch”, the flexibility and ease of the Internet is gaining more and more popularity by the final consumer.
