Feb 25, 2016
Mido is one of the leading events of the world optical industry, featuring the latest novelties and market trends. The trade show is celebrating its 46th edition, and will be held within the new Rho-Pero exhibition centre in Milan from 27th to 29th February. The show expects to welcome nearly 1,200 exhibitors, in line with the 2015 edition, two thirds of them coming from outside Italy.
The show will be set up as usual around six large themed pavilions: Design Lab will focus on avant-garde design, Fashion District on fashion brands, Lenses will gather together lens manufacturers, Tech will feature machinery, raw materials and components, the Fair East Pavilion will group together Oriental brands, and Otticlub will be the area designated for optics professionals, with venues for conferences, workshops, courses and training events.
Mido organisers are always on the lookout for innovation, and announced in a press release the introduction of a new area called More!, a satellite to Design Lab, featuring "trends and future developments in eyewear," a sort of concept lab hosting "the creators of the boldest hand-crafted eyeglasses, a source of inspiration for industry professionals."
Mido has also organised two competitions: the 'Bestand Award', recognizing the most original booth, and the 'Beststore Award', going to the store offering the best shopping experience.
Last year, Mido welcomed 49,000 visitors, equivalent to an 8.7% increase compared to the previous edition, with an extra 10% in exhibition area and 150 new exhibitors.
