Emanuel Ungaro changes partner for women's ready-to-wear apparel

Published
Oct 8, 2015

Change of licensee for Emanuel Ungaro. The French luxury fashion label, owned since 2005 by Aimz Acquisition, an investment fund belonging to Pakistani-American businessman Asim Abdullah, entrusted the production and distribution of its women's ready-to-wear collection, until now manufactured by Italian group Aeffe, to another Italian company, Modalis, formerly Studio Roscini, currently the licensed manufacturer for John Galliano and also working for Céline, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler etc.

"This is a long-term licence agreement. We will however maintain our agents and distributors and especially we will continue working with Fausto Puglisi, who remains our womenswear line's creative director," Marie Fournier, Emanuel Ungaro's General Manager, has stated.

"We have parted from Aeffe in an amicable way, each party following its own route. Aeffe wished to focus more on its own brands, such as Moschino and Alberta Ferretti," Marie Fournier also underlined.

In a press release, the Italian fashion group confirmed the licence agreement's termination, a decision "dictated by the need for Aeffe to concentrate resources on its own brands."

The agreement between Aeffe and the French label, covering the worldwide production and distribution of Emanuel Ungaro's womenswear and accessories lines, thus ends with the Spring-Summer 2016 collection recently showcased at the Paris Fashion Week.

The agreement had been signed in September 2012 and was scheduled to last until 2020. It also incorporated an option for Aeffe to acquire a share in the Emanuel Ungaro company's stock, based on targets and results.
