Dolce & Gabbana is showing its couture in Puglia this summer

After Syracuse last summer, Dolce & Gabbana has chosen another emblematic destination in southern Italy to present its couture line. This time the Italian luxury label is stopping in the Puglia region, more precisely in the Itria valley known for its white villages and thousand-year-old olive trees. From July 7 to 11, it will unveil its Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria collections as well as the new pieces of its high-end jewellery.

Without specifying for the moment where exactly the exclusive event, aimed mainly at the brand's wealthiest clients, will be held, the Milanese company has evoked "some of the most fascinating places of the Murge plateau". Stretching between Bari to the north and Brindisi to the south, this agricultural region scattered with "trulli", the typical round stone and whitewash buildings with pointed roofs, has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area over the last ten years.

"These places will be the setting for unique designs, the fruit of the craftsmanship and creativity of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, in dialogue with the precious local manufacturing and artistic heritage, combined with the most authentic popular tradition," says Dolce & Gabbana in a brief note. For this type of presentation, the designer duo often relies on local craftsmen, whom they like to highlight.

Far from the clamour of Parisian Haute Couture Week, the house launched its couture project ten years ago, in July 2012, deciding to present it exclusively in Italy, each time in an emblematic location such as Venice, Capri, Palermo, Agrigento, Naples, Portofino or Florence, through lavish collections highlighting the know-how and tradition of Italian artisans. In July 2014, the women's line called "Alta Moda" was joined by its men's counterpart "Alta Sartoria".
