Dior's 'Teddy-D' gives the pearl necklace a modern makeover

This includes the house's new "Teddy-D" pearl necklace, which combine elegance with a rebellious spirit, while being adorned with patterns straight from the Dior DNA.

For Dior's Fall-Winter 2019-2020 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri created a modern interpretation of the New Look silhouette, underscored with audacious references to Teddy Girls, who symbolized the British counterculture of the 1950s. Poised between a chic finish and a rebellious spirit, the collection highlights an accessory which could set the tone for the season: the Teddy-D.

The piece of jewelry is a modern and daring reinterpretation of the classic pearl necklace, the par excellence feminine accessory. The Teddy-D are all decorated with three-leaf clovers and stars, Christian Dior's favorite symbols, and made from black and multicolored crystals.

While the necklace stands out with its irreverent style, it remains the fruit of true savoir-faire in jewel making. The Dior house specifies that each pearl was threaded by hand, one by one, using a traditional artisanal technique.
