Condé Nast launches Vogue Poland

Published
Jun 20, 2017

Fresh from the launch of its Vogue Arabia edition, Condé Nast has announced that it will launch Vogue Poland next year.

The move is designed to help the media giant further penetrate markets in Eastern Europe. The company already has local editions in Russia and the Ukraine.

Debuting in early 2018, it will be the 23rd Vogue edition and the second to launch as a digital-first brand after the Arabia launch earlier this year.

The new edition will be spearheaded by Filip Niedenthal as its launch editor-in-chief, continuing the run of male editors in roles previously dominated by women. Niedenthal has a strong CV in key roles on glossy magazine and previously helmed the Esquire Poland launch, as well as being executive fashion editor at the local edition of Hearst’s Harper’s Bazaar and editor-in-chief of travel title Podróże.

He will be joined by model and actress Malgosia Bela who has appeared on several Vogue covers. She will be editor-at-large. Kasia Kulczyk, who is the founder of licensee Visteria, will also have a major impact on the title. She said there is strong demand for a magazine like Vogue in Poland that will promote Polish talent internationally in fashion, the arts, culture, and other areas.

Condé Nast’s New Markets and Editorial Director, Brand Development, Karina Dobrotvorskaya, praised Kulczyk’s intelligence, knowledge and passion and said “she is determined to change the country’s fashion and cultural landscape with this launch.”

Vogue Poland will appear first as a digital edition early next year followed by the print magazine that is licensed to Visteria. The company did not give a specific launch date for the print edition but said it would happen in the first half of the year.
