Coal Drops Yard announces new brands, concept store

Published
Apr 17, 2019

Coal Drops Yard, the major retail development that opened next to London’s King’s Cross Station last autumn, has announced a raft of new brands that will open there by this summer.

Coals Drops Yard has announced new tenants

The mall is housed in a giant converted coal depot and has been updated and transformed by architects Heatherwick Studios. It currently houses over 50 stores and they’ll be joined this year by Paris-based APC, East London denim maker Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, and Australian luxury skincare brand Aesop, among others.

The development will also see the debut of new dining options with the landlord having been focused as much on attracting restaurants as fashion stores given the importance of a leisure offer to physical retail these days.

The new arrivals will join existing tenants such as Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Cubitts, Wolf & Badger, Form&Thread, MHL By Margaret Howell and COS.

The APC opening will be the fourth London store for the brand and will house its full collection of clothing and accessories for men and women.

But it will be only the second store anywhere for Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, which is best known for its craft denim.

Aesop meanwhile, will open as early as this spring having found a warm welcome in London generally (it has 14 standalone stores plus counters in Selfridges and Liberty and other capital city stockists).

Meanwhile, Kiosk N1C, the curators of Lower Stable Street – the market-style street between Stable Street and the main Coal Drops Yard – will open a concept store during London Craft Week in May. Featuring a curated mix of fashion and lifestyle brands, the magazine’s first physical space will offer shoppers a range of carefully selected products "celebrating the spirit of craftsmanship and design.”
